How to Make the Most of Recruitment Drives
Before the event:
- Research the company, its mission, recent news, and key business areas
- Check what roles they are hiring for (if announced)
- Review the LinkedIn profiles of LUMS alumni working there
🧠 AI Prompt:
"Summarize what [Company Name] does and key recent developments in under 100 words."
"Generate 3 questions I can ask [Company Name] recruiters during a coffee chat."
Business casual is usually a safe bet. If in doubt, lean toward formal. First impressions count — even in a casual setting like a coffee chat.
Prepare your:
- Elevator pitch: A 30-second summary of who you are, what you're studying, and your interests
- Key accomplishments: Projects, internships, or skills relevant to the company
- Thoughtful questions: Ask about culture, growth, skills they value, etc.
📌 Visit our Communication & Networking page for tips.
After each session:
- Note what stood out about the company
- Record the names of recruiters you interacted with
- Reflect on whether the company aligns with your goals
If you had a meaningful interaction:
- Send a short thank-you note or LinkedIn message within 24–48 hours
- Mention something specific you appreciated about the session
🧠 AI Prompt:
"Write a polite thank-you email to a recruiter I met during a recruitment drive at LUMS."
Some drives lead directly to application or assessment invites — others help you prepare for future cycles.
- Keep your resume updated using the LUMS Resume Template
- Review the employer's website or Connect Portal page
- Note deadlines and required materials
Common Student Questions
"What if I don't meet all the criteria?"
Recruitment drives are also about learning. Attend to understand how to build toward eligibility for next year.
"Is it okay to ask about compensation or benefits?"
Save those questions for later stages unless the recruiter brings it up first.
